A Second Glimpse

Although the water looks soft and gentle, in reality I had to move my camera out of the way of incoming swells to get this shot. This photo was taken after a wave had already passed through and as it was returning to the deep.

Artist Notes:
When I took this shot it was the first time I was behind a camera in nearly four months! I had been renovating a condo and was working like a dog to get it finished. My hands were bruised and bleeding, my back and knees ached and I felt like I was 95 years old. Yet, when I stepped behind the camera on this night, an overwhelming calm shrouded my body, I felt like I had returned home, like I was doing what I was meant to do. I don’t ever want to go so long between photo shoots, and this picture speaks to that.

Shot with a Nikon D850 with Nikon 14-24mm Lens and Gitzo Tripod on the island of Maui, Hawaii.
