This picturesque scene is not always so calm. In the winter time, this beach is transformed into one of the world’s most famous surf spots. Known as the “Banzai Pipeline,” surfers come from all over the world to challenge this massive wave. Surf competitions spring up at this location throughout the winter as huge swells pound the reef below. In the summertime, however, the waters are calm and idyllic with barely a hint of the treacherous conditions that will creep up in a few months.
