Artist notes:
I was shooting this location a few nights previous to this and had been scouting the area for awhile. The day I shot it originally, I did so with a different lens setup. I wanted to have a little bit more of a wide angle to the shot, so I came back a few days later and was able to catch the sunset with a good tide and swell combination. This gave me some really interesting water features and shore break. The final dazzling cherry on top was a great sunset that lit up the sky. I almost always prefer sunsets with interesting skies like this as opposed to a blank canvas. This look is so much more interesting. I feel extremely blessed to have witnessed the magic of this amazing sunset. Hence the name “Ho’okalakupua,” which means “magic” in Hawaiian.
