Artist notes:
We have a whole lot of bamboo on Maui, but believe it or not, its hard to find a good crop of young, green and healthy bamboo. I went to this location many times to try to get a shot like this, but I never quite found the right spot on a perfectly still day. See, if it’s windy at all, which it is almost constantly on this island, the bamboo will be moving ever so slightly. This is a problem for a guy like me who tries to capture each image with the highest possible focus and clarity. To capture these shoots I waited until after a heavy rain and shot them just after sunrise before any winds picked up. The resulting image is an excellent crop that looks remarkable in a large format print!
