Artist notes:
The morning I shot this, I was staying in a hotel in Taiwan and the room I was in had no windows so I didn’t have any ambient lights to let me know when I should start getting up. Good thing I set an alarm, but tiptoeing out of the hotel so as not to wake my wife was extremely difficult. In fact, I think I stubbed a few toes and knocked over all kinds of things on the way out…
It would have been really easy to sleep ’til eleven or so ( I know, my wife did…), but I was glad I woke up. The morning sun was incredible. Her show on the sky was filled with brilliant colors and the clear, still mountain air gave way to amazing colors throughout my photographs.
This shot though, was my favorite. I love the old pier and the tranquility of the morning amid this mystical place. Can’t wait to visit again!
