Something for Everyone
November 18, 2016
Aloha everyone, it’s FRIDAY!!!
Can you believe it’s almost Thanksgiving?! Wow, time is flying. I’ve got a couple pieces of news to throw out there at you today, as its been awhile since I last wrote. If you’re interested in reading more about any of the topics below, just click on the link and it’ll take you direct to the article on the site. If you follow me on social media (Facebook, Instagram) then you may have already seen some of this. If you don’t, why not? Alright, let’s get started…
Holiday Gifts under $40!
You definitely should check this out. I’ve put together a bunch of new images that are available for purchase for under $40! They are all panoramic shots and the dimensions are 12″x36″. They come printed on Kodak Endura Premium Photographic Paper and look absolutely stunning. This is basically my cost on these things, so you should take advantage if you need artwork for your walls. Unfortunately, this is going to be a limited time offer, so if you see something you like, order now! Oh, and yes, they’ll be there for Christmas.
This is one of the 10 or so images available for under $40 in the store. How awesome would this look on your wall? Heck, I may have to order one for myself… SEE THEM ALL!
2016 International Photographic Competition Awards
Guess who got a silver medal in the biggest annual photography competition in the world?!! Four images were entered, four images were awarded. You’re probably going to want to see all four…
Yea, that’s one of them. See the other three…
Mirrorless vs. DSLR
A lot of people have asked me whether they should buy a mirrorless camera or a DSLR for landscape photography. This is a great question and each has its benefits, but since there can only be one winner, here are my thoughts….
How to Photograph the Supermoon
Granted the giant supermoon has come and gone, but these tips and techniques apply to photographing any full moon. Or, start practicing now- the next time the supermoon will be as big as it was last week will be 2034…
Here’s the image I took. Learn how you can shoot the moon!
Speaking Event
On December 12, I’ll be giving a speaking presentation at the Maui Camera Club. The theme will be loosely based on seeing things differently. All are welcome to come, so if you’re interested in photography and you’ll be on island, you are welcome to join us. Check out Maui Camera Club’s website for directions.
One Year Notice
As some of you know, I recently got back from a trip to the Southwest. Well, one of the most amazing things to see out there are these slot canyons. They are all over, but a handful of them are truly exceptional. Of those, all but one are like going to Disneyland. Crowds are everywhere. The other one is completely open. I spent three hours in it alone with my guide. I’m thinking about doing a very private workshop out there next year about this time.
I’m still working on the details, but it will likely be a 3-4 day workshop with 6-8 students max. It will be geared towards intermediate photographers looking to take their work to the next level. A basic understanding of Photoshop is helpful, as I’ll go into depth on some post processing techniques. As of right now, the cost will likely be around $1500 per person. If you are interested, please contact me directly and I’ll make sure I keep you posted…
Mmmmm hmmmm…. That’s a shot from the secret canyon. If interested contact me.
Hidden in the first two posts are quite a few new releases that are not included here, so please check out those links if you get a chance.
Alright, that’s all I’ve got right now. I’m hoping to send out another newsletter before Christmas, but I realize that the last one I sent out was in March, so don’t hold your breath. I keep thinking I’m going to write more often than I do…
Have an awesome day, my friends, and a great Christmas and Thanksgiving if I don’t talk to you before then! And as always, feel free to respond to this newsletter and give me a shout!
Aloha!
Mike
